In the 27th century water is more precious than gold. The Imperium, with sole control of this scarce resource, commands the fate of a thousand worlds. For generations, the Freedom Guard has pioneered the galaxy for the human race, colonizing planet after planet in exchange for an autonomy the Imperium promised but never granted. Now a civil war rages across the galaxy. The Freedom Guard, out-manned and out-gunned, tries desperately to break the Imperium's grip on the all-important water supply. The Imperium meanwhile has developed a devastating new weapon: a chemical compound that when triggered consumes the water of an entire world in seconds, killing every living thing in its wake.

Centuries before the wars began, the Tograns escaped the terminal
decay of Earth to start anew. Led by a visionary scientist, Alpheus Togra, a prophet, a man with the power to control matter, they set out into the unknown reaches of space to create a paradise. Ambushed on the journey, Togra's ship was damaged and crash landed on an unknown planet, and he was forced to enter a suspended animation chamber. For generations, Togran sentinel probes scoured the galaxy for their lost leader. Now in the war-torn Strata system one of the probes has spotted the wreckage of a ship that may be Togra's. You have been chosen to head the expedition to recover him before he is consumed by the Imperium's new weapon. As you travel towards the Strata system, you will download the battles recorded by the sentinel probes, learning the tactics of both the Imperium and Freedom Guard to prepare for one decisive battle against both.
