Shadow Warrior
is a pulse stopping action sensation more bullet
ridden than any game in history. Since the
mid-70's Lo Wang (the Shadow Warrior) has been
the most feared and respected ninja to walk the
mortal plane. He was the assassin of choice for
the Japanese Yakuza and other eastern underworld
families that had too much money and too many
enemies. Countless crime bosses, dirty
politicians, corrupt police chiefs, subverted
CEOs, and hired mercenaries died at the
lightening quick and unseen hands of the Shadow
Warrior. He is known as the best. The most
lethal.
Armed with
10,000 bullets, 1,000 Shurikens, 1 sword and an
assortment of deadly body parts, the Shadow
Warrior must embrace his destiny. A destiny
teeming with hideous foes far beyond the Shadow
Warriors wildest expectations. Where have
these supernatural beasts come from?
Only the
Shadow Warrior has the power and courage to find
out
Shadow Warrior
is the third game to use the Build engine, Blood,
and Duke Nukem 3D are the other two, each and every
game is great, which is a credit to both the game
designers and to the engine designer. The Build
engine may not be as complicated as the Quake
engine but it is really fast, and I think that is
a major factor...SPEED!
This is one
area where Shadow Warrior is a little bit of a
let down, the game seems a little sluggish. But
that is OK, because the rest of the game more
than makes up for it. The weapons are cooler, the
blood effects are more gruesome, monsters
(enemies) are tougher and smarter. I am willing
to trade a little bit of speed for enhanced game
play, also this is only a preview so in the final
version this will probably not be an issue.
Your starting
weapons in the game are shuriken (throwing stars)
and a katana (sword), while the enemy is armed
with uzi machine guns. The cool thing about the
katana is that when you slice your opponent, he
actually does slice in half, and blood spurts all
over the place. The katana against uzi is a
little bit of an unfair battle, so I would
suggest getting an uzi as soon as possible.
During your travels you will find rocket
launchers, spiked grenades, etc. You must pick
these up and use them to your advantage.
The nice thing
to see here is that even in the 3d shooters you
are starting to get story and history which makes
the game more believable and playable.
Shadow Warrior
is really well thought out and executed. I can
hardly wait for Shadow Warrior to be on the
retailers shelves. This is a must download for
anybody interested in hacking, slashing and fun.
