Magic: The Gathering
BattleMage Review
You are in the
midst of a giant Planeswalking war for the
continent of Corondor. the Battlemage Ravidel has
gone insane, he seeks the destruction of all
planeswalkers, and conquest of the land itself.
The lines of battle have been drawn and there in
lies the story, and the game. You play one of six
planeswalkers who must
defeat the Battlemage.
Battlemage has two modes of play Duel were you
fight from Planewalker to Planeswalker more of a
test of skill (also for network play), and the
Campaign mode. The Campaign mode is a combination
of risk and the duel, essentially you must grab
all of the land and defeat Ravidel before anybody
else does.
Battlemage is very difficult to play, the
interface is not very intuitive. And I think that
makes it very difficult to play, the simple
addition of key identifiers would help the game
immensely. One of the most annoying things about
the game is that one of your cards is always
blinking, this is signifying that the game is
going to throw that card away unless you move it
around. This is a pain.
Once you get past the learning curve battlemage
is fun, though I am not sure that it is worth the
effort, especially since the Magic: The Gathering
from Microprose is much better.
