Magic: The Gathering Review
Welcome to the World of
Shandalar - your objective is to banish evil from
the world of Shandalar. You start as a young
wizard with a beginners deck and few life points,
your first objective is to survive long enough to
build up your deck and your life points. You
accomplish this in several ways, you can buy
cards from the various towns and castles. You can
fight other wizards, and creatures from the
cards, winning will give you a new card or a hint
to the locations of one of the dungeons. As you
travel through the world of Shandalar strange and
wondorous things will show up and then disappear.
These things are one of the types of encounters
that can occur, the other type of course are
other wandering wizards. When you go to a village
you are given the opportunity to go on quests, in
return you will be given a reward, usually the
reward consists of an amulet (they represent the
different color of magic) or some cards.Magic The Gathering is a great translation of the real game with the added bonus of being able to play with out-of-print cards like the Black Lotus, and to play with 12 new cards (The Astral Set) that are only available in the game.
My one complaint about the game is that there are way to many encounters, as soon as you leave a town there are a couple of wizards pursuing you.
If you like Magic The Gathering the Card Game then you are going to love Magic The Gathering the Computer Game.
